FAQ

  • Do I need an instrument at home?

    • Practice is vital to growth when learning a new skill and music is no different. In order to develop technique and grow in the instrument you need to have access to one at home. That being said, if you are starting out and want to see if you take to the instrument it might be worth renting or purchasing 2nd hand before making a bigger financial commitment.

    •

  • Do you rent instruments?

    • While I can point you in the direction of reliable rentals, I do not rent out any of my instruments.

    •

  • Do I need prior experience?

    • No, just a willingness to learn.

  • How/where do I find resources?

    • While resources are not too difficult to find (there are music stores in Brackenfell and Durbanville) - I can curate resources for students.

    •

  • How difficult is it to learn an instrument?

    • This differs from person to person, however, learning a new skill takes dedication and time. If you have these two things the rest follows naturally.

  • How does payment work?

    • I charge for the lessons that take place on a month to month basis, with the aim of four lessons in a month. There is a cancellation policy in place, should lessons be cancelled at the last minute. Please see billing page?

    •

  • What age is a good age to start lessons?

    • While one can never be too old to learn to play an instrument, dealing with little ones is a completely different situation. It has been my experience that children under the age of 5 do not cope well with concentrating for the full duration of a lesson and that it takes longer for a shy child to start enjoying music classes. Parents, you know your child best - if they are confident, well adjusted and show a keen interest then please connect with me for a trial lesson.

    •

  • Do you enter students for Eisteddfod?

    • If I have a student who is interested in performance - I highly encourage Eisteddfod entry whether it be virtual or in person..

    •

  • Do you do give online classes?

    • No - not at this time.
